Westside Seniors Hub is a collaborative community initiative dedicated to building a more responsive and resilient community for seniors on Vancouver’s Westside through the power of collective action.

We believe that when seniors, service providers, and community organizations come together, we can strengthen support, improve services, and create meaningful opportunities for engagement.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build a more responsive and resilient community for seniors on Vancouver’s Westside by harnessing the strength of collective action and shared commitment.

Our Goals

  • Raise awareness of issues and priorities affecting Westside seniors.

  • Improve programs and services for seniors through collaboration among the Hub Council, Partner Organizations, and community groups.

  • Encourage community engagement, supporting seniors to take an active role in shaping the services that affect their lives.

How We’re Structured

The Hub brings together a diverse group of Hub Partner Organizations and the Hub Council.

  • Hub Partner Organizations are public, non-profit, and faith-based groups that serve seniors on the Westside. These partners meet quarterly to share information, identify emerging needs, and collaborate on integrated service planning. They also participate in working groups that act on identified issues and represent the Hub to the broader public.

  • Hub Council members are volunteer seniors with firsthand knowledge of seniors’ issues and experience working collaboratively on action-oriented initiatives. They meet monthly to set priorities and guide the Hub’s collective work.

Who We Serve

We define the Westside catchment area as everything west of Ontario Street (including UBC and the Endowment Lands), south of Cornwall Street and False Creek, and north of Marine Drive. While our focus is on this region, partners located outside the area are welcome to join us if they actively serve Westside seniors.

Our History

The idea for the Hub emerged from a 2009 research report on sustaining seniors’ programs through neighbourhood houses. Pilot work began in 2010, and through partnerships, community visioning, and planning roundtables, a structure for the Hub was defined. By early 2015, the first Hub Council was appointed and the Hub began its work in earnest.

Our Support

From the beginning, the Hub has been supported by generous sponsors who share our commitment to seniors’ well-being and resilience in the Westside community.
