The City’s 10th Ave Project Team has offered to give the Westside Seniors Hub an opportunity to preview the most recent design for transportation upgrades in the Health Precinct (Oak to Cambie Streets).
Following extensive public input in the Fall of 2016 and further consultations with Vancouver Coastal Health, BC Cancer Agency, and Provincial Health Services Authority, a final report on this project is due to be presented to City Council in early May. There have been additional refinements to the plan regarding sidewalks, cycle paths, and metered parking.
Concerns have been expressed among seniors, their caregivers, and persons with mobility, vision, and hearing disabilities about patient access to facilities and services in the Health Precinct as well as parking and passenger loading close to key facilities. Pedestrian safety is an ongoing concern, since there is often congestion in the Health Precinct with emergency and delivery vehicles, cars, and cyclists needing access and moving through the area.
